| Position Summary: |
The University of Dayton is seeking a dedicated, hardworking, multiculturally focused, and community centered Therapist to serve in the Counseling Center. Within this 10-month position, the therapist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy, emergency walk-in support, after hours crisis intervention as part of a rotation, outreach, and supervision of graduate trainees.
Through an approach of prevention, education, and treatment, the Counseling Center team is missioned to provide a positive impact on the mental health, wellbeing, and academic success of all students through services that promote resiliency, capacity building, and facilitate optimal student development and growth. The Counseling Center actively contributes to the university's holistic approach to mental health and suicide prevention through integration of the UD Step Care Model.
The ideal candidate for this position will hold strong ethics regarding client confidentiality, serve as a generalist to help students who present with a wide range of clinical presentations, and understand the importance of being available some evenings and weekends to best serve students. To achieve success, the candidate must be dedicated to reducing barriers to care that exist for communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups. Further, a commitment to understand and support the University of Dayton's distinctive Marianist tradition and educational vision, as well as a willingness to model institutional values of service to others, community, and inclusivity are imperative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES [%]
Direct Client Service [65%] - Responsible for assessing and treating common psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, disordered eating, substance misuse, grief, sexual trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and personality disorder as part of individual and group psychotherapy, as well as providing crises intervention, risk assessment, consultation, and after hours emergency support. - Utilize effective communication techniques with students, faculty, staff, parents, family members and concerned others. - Collaborate and appropriately consult with Division of Student Development partners, psychiatrists, and medical staff. - Appropriately refer clients on-campus and to off-campus community providers. - Display a positive attitude within the Counseling Center and across departmental lines to contribute to staff morale and overall customer satisfaction. - Ensure all clinical documentation is complete and maintained in a manner consistent with state and national ethical standards.
Supervision and Training of Interns and Trainees [15%] - Provide supervision and training to trainees and interns. Ensure all documentation and services rendered align with high ethical standards. - Review videotaped sessions for supervisees and provide regular performance evaluations. - Review all clinical documentation drafted by supervisees under the Therapist’s oversight and provide guidance regarding appropriate revisions. - Ensure clinical supervision and training incorporates the importance of thorough safety/suicidality assessments, teaching related to psychological diagnosis and empirically supported treatments, guidance regarding supervisees use of self and the importance of the therapeutic relationship, and ensuring supervisees are demonstrating multicultural competencies.
Outreach Service Delivery and Consultation [15%] - Provide psychoeducational, specialty topic presentations, prevention outreach services to members of the student body and campus partners. - Serve as a consultant for staff, faculty, students, and family members of students, hospitals, psychiatry, and others in need of psychological consultation pertaining to the University of Dayton community.
Related Duties [5%] - Actively participate in Student Development activities on campus by serving as a volunteer, mentor, committee member and/or participant. - Attend relevant staff meetings and case conferences. - Participate in continuing education as needed to maintain clinical licensure. - Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

| Minimum Qualifications: |
- Must have completed a doctoral degree or master’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling, social work from an accredited program. - Current independent licensure in Ohio as a Psychologist, LPCC-S, LISW-S, or LMFT-S. - Knowledge of the mental health needs and concerns of a college-aged population. - Possess active experience in crisis intervention and emergency management operations within a clinical setting. - Experience and commitment to facilitating groups, including process, psycho-education, and support groups. - Experience working collaboratively with various constituents. - Articulate passion for promoting holistic wellbeing and enhancing student learning. - Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and maintaining clinical documentation. - Compliant with board ethics, state laws, and maintaining confidentiality. - Ability to work on an on-call basis as a part of a 24/7 crisis response system that may require the person to respond to campus or a hospital /mental health facility after hours. - Flexibility in implementing outreach programming during business hours, the evenings, and weekends to best meet student needs.

| Preferred Qualifications: |
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- One or more years of training experience providing clinical supervision. - One or more years working in a counseling center, or similar setting, that serves college students. - Experience using Titanium software and/or a comparable Electronic Medical Records system. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team. - Capacity to independently manage a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities. - Demonstrated integrity, dependability, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative, positive, and effective working relationships with multiple constituency groups. - Proven success working with a range of diverse populations and evidence of commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and a collaborative multicultural environment. - Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and service in leadership.
