Position Summary: THIS JOB IS LOCATED AT EGLIN, AFB. This position entails assisting scientists and engineers in the development of energetic material composites, to include conducting mixing/casting/pressing processes, performing small scale safety tests, assisting with detonation/deflagration performance/characterization tests, and designing/drafting lab apparatus and test hardware. The employee will assist in developing and conducting wet chemistry procedures for energetic composite mixing, to include hydrothermal synthesis, continuous flow, microfluidics (droplets), sonochemistry and microwave reactors, as well as troubleshooting experimental designs and processes to identify potential safety issues. He/she will also be responsible for coordinating and overseeing laboratory characterization and sensitivity testing of energetic materials and composites. Performing mixes of energetic composites using high shear, acoustic, and centrifugal mixing technology along with casting and high pressure pressing of energetic materials for sample preparation and evaluation followed by reformulating energetic compositions to tune performance and sensitivity characteristics is also a key function. Assisting with the setup, to include the design and drafting of test fixtures and laboratory apparatus as well as data analysis for testing will also be required.
Minimum Qualifications:

BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Related.
Experience in a laboratory setting.
Experience with wet chemistry techniques.
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret-level or higher clearance, and DoD certification in explosives.

Preferred Qualifications:

P1 Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with microfluidics.
Experience with sonochemistry.
Experience with microwave reactors.
Experience in design of experiments (DOE)
Strong technical communication skills (oral and written).
Experience with energetic materials, the safe handling of and proper safety training.
