Position Summary: The University of Dayton is currently seeking an NDE Technician to work in the Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Research Laboratory. The NDE technician will provide a broad base of support in the use of advanced test, characterization and measurement systems. Most of this support is to conduct NDE testing, and to develop new nondestructive evaluation techniques. Additional responsibilities include interfacing electronic equipment with NDE systems to acquire and analyze data obtained from advanced aerospace materials. The researcher is also responsible for documenting inspection results, writing reports, following and developing inspection procedures, interfacing with other researchers.
Minimum Qualifications:

T2 / Technician:
Experience with NDE methods and associated equipment and instrumentation including but not limited to electronic equipment, oscilloscopes, function generators.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including electronic means of communication using Microsoft office applications.
Three years of related technical experience.
Due to the security clearance requirements of this position applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

T3 / Senior Technician:
Ability to design and plan projects, acquire and analyze data, write reports summarizing test procedures and data acquired.
A self motivated individual with a broad technical background and willingness to learn new procedures, instrumentation, measurement techniques.
Minimum of eight years experience and post high school degree in NDE related technical field is required. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related experience.
Due to security clearance requirements of this position applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

T2 / Technician:
NDE certification in ultrasound, eddy current and/or thermography.
2-3 years experience with nondestructive testing and data evaluation, aircraft structures, Air Force TOs and maintenance procedures is highly beneficial. Experience with databases and data management is also beneficial.

T3 / Senior Technician: Experience in NDE research environment, metallography and microscopy, documentation and database queries.
