Position Summary:

This is a part-time, no benefits position located in Warner Robins, Georgia.

The position will be focused on reverse engineering/designing aerospace components to be manufactured using metal powder bed fusion and fused deposition modelling additive manufacturing processes. Focus will be on determining the fit, form and function of existing aerospace components and translating this knowledge into the technical data required to produce the equivalent or superior performing part using an additive manufacturing processes. An additive manufacturing product development process is used to guide the design engineer, but it is essential that the engineer be well versed in the fundamentals of mechanical design as well as possess the ability to assess requirements and choose the most economical combination of part geometry and material properties to take full advantage of the additive manufacturing process. This will include material / design/ process risk assessments and selection, providing test plan execution, test data interpretation, and validation of part performance vs. end-use requirements. The position will also require the ability to resolve design-related performance issues

Minimum Qualifications:

- BS in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing Materials, Corrosion, or Chemical engineering or engineering technology or related engineering/engineering technology field).
- 0-1 years of engineering/technical product design, hardware ownership experience with working knowledge of GD&T standards.
- Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software and 2D drawing creation.
- Familiar with creating and executing component and system level validation test plans
- Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, NC machining, forging, heat treat and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics.
- Familiar with data collection, analysis, and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge in Matlab, Excel and other MS Office Suite programs.
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
- Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required
- Valid driver’s license with a low risk driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in Dassault Systems SolidWorks CAD software

Experience in thermal simulation analysis and validation studies.
