Skills & Competencies: |
- Capable of lifting, pushing and carrying various heavy tools, equipment and material;
- Climb, balance, kneel, stoop or crouch to gain access to pipes, valves and equipment;
- Ability to use hand and power tools;
- Must adhere to operational safety rules and regulations as deemed by the University;
- Must be able to follow directives and possess good communication skills and ability to interact with building/office occupants effectively;
- Must be able to provide coverage on weekends and emergencies including severe weather emergencies;
- Mechanical aptitude in servicing HVAC and building equipment;
- Knowledge of proper and improper operation of heating and cooling systems/components;
- Knowledge of chemical treatment procedures and testing;
- Knowledge of boilers and associated equipment;
- Ability to perform major planned maintenance on systems/components as well as operation/maintenance of various heating/cooling systems;
- Ability to assume various specific assigned responsibilities for diagnostics, operations, maintenance and rehabilitation of major heating/cooling system components;
- Ability to direct and supervise major repair, renewal and rehabilitation of heating and cooling system components;
- Train lower level grade personnel as assigned.
