Position Summary:       

The Lead Electrician performs and oversees the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring and other electrical related devices. Schedule is Monday through Thursday 8am - 5pm; Friday 8am - 1:30pm

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure work is accomplished in a professional and appropriate manner, in conformance with work order requirements and specifications, and complies with the National Electric Code and local ordinances;
  • Compute material requirements for specific jobs. Maintain adequate shop stock levels and requisitions tools, equipment, materials and supplies for accomplishing shop assignments;
  • Assign duties to staff and provide routine guidance;
  • Perform the duties of an electrician;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • High School Diploma and 7 years of experience as an Electrician is required.
  • Construction/power industry experience is preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license is required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Must possess the strength and dexterity needed to perform the job and the physical ability to move equipment as necessary;
  • Must adhere to operational safety rules and regulations as deemed by the University;
  • Must be able to follow directives and possess good communication skills and ability to interact with building/office occupants effectively;
  • Must possess working knowledge of the electrical code;
  • Must possess working knowledge of all types of light fixtures;
  • Must possess working knowledge of all types of conduits and raceways;
  • Must possess working knowledge of basic wiring for lights and power;
  • Must possess working knowledge of all hand and power tools;
  • Must possess working knowledge of basic electric test equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of all materials and fasteners in accordance with the electrical code;
  • Must be able to effectively provide direction to lower level staff;
  • Respirator Fit Testing may be required.

Salary Range:

Grade 11 1199 New Hire rate: $33.23 and 1199 One Year of Service rate $33.91
