Position Summary:

Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today’s dental thought leaders and master clinicians.  The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative “Block” style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding.  Please join this new and innovative proposed DDS program.

The Director of Sterilization and Supply at Yeshiva University’s dental school will oversee all sterilization and materials management operations, ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient environment that supports patient care and clinical education. This role is responsible for managing sterilization protocols, overseeing inventory control, and coordinating the procurement of clinical supplies. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Clinical Practice, the Director will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to uphold best practices in infection control, resource management, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Sterilization Operations Management: Oversee daily sterilization activities, including instrument cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Manage inventory control for clinical supplies, including tracking usage, forecasting needs, and coordinating procurement to ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Develop, implement, and monitor compliance protocols in sterilization and supply management, ensuring adherence to OSHA, CDC, and university safety standards.
  • Staff Training and Supervision: Lead and support the sterilization and supply staff, providing training on infection control practices, sterilization techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Oversee the budget for sterilization and supply functions, ensuring effective resource allocation, cost control, and efficient use of materials.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to secure quality materials and equipment, manage contracts, and resolve any supply chain issues.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: Identify opportunities for process improvements in sterilization and materials management, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, inventory levels, and supply usage; prepare reports to inform decision-making and compliance audits.
Experience & Education Background: Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or Supply Chain Management

Professional certification in sterile processing and infection control, such as:

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST – HSPA/IAHCSMM)
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in sterilization, central sterile processing, or healthcare supply chain operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • Training in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
  • Experience working in an academic healthcare or dental school environment
  • Familiarity with electronic inventory and materials management systems (e.g., Jaggaer, Lawson, or similar)
Skills & Competencies:
  • Expertise in Sterilization and Infection Control: In-depth knowledge of sterilization processes, infection control protocols, and safety standards in a healthcare or dental environment
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Strong understanding of inventory management and procurement processes, with experience in managing supply levels efficiently
  • Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA, CDC, and healthcare regulatory standards for sterilization and materials management
  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff, with a focus on building a cohesive and skilled team
  • Budgeting and Resource Management: Proficiency in budgeting and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations and resource sustainability
  • Problem-Solving and Process Improvement: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to identifying and implementing process enhancements
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication skills to collaborate with clinical staff, vendors, and administrative teams
