Position Summary:

Post-doctoral researcher position Drori lab

For an innovative project studying ice crystallization in food using thermal imaging, the Drori lab at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of Yeshiva University (Beren campus located in midtown Manhattan) is seeking excellent candidates for a Post-doctoral Researcher position. The position will commence immediately and is funded for 24 months with satisfactory performance. A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to full benefits.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • The post-doctoral researcher will work with micro-thermography imaging systems as well as light and fluorescence microscopy.
  • The successful candidate will develop, design, and run experiments with the goal of measuring ice growth velocity and ice nucleation rates in food products.
  • The candidate will join a team of undergraduate/graduate students and is expected to mentor them in the lab, as well as write research manuscripts and grant proposals and present their results at domestic/international conferences.
Experience & Education Background:
  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in experimental Physical Chemistry, Physics, or Biophysics and have demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more of the following: optics, thermal (IR) cameras, temperature-controlled devices, and crystallization processes.
  • Some knowledge in MATLAB and Python is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Applicants should be self-motivated and have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Experience in the development of optical/IR systems is required.
  • The position requires the ability to work independently and to be creative with problem-solving and the development of new experimental techniques.
