Position Summary:             

The Associate Dean will play a critical role in the effective, efficient, and transparent leadership of the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration. Reporting to the Dean of Azrieli, the Associate Dean will provide strategic, analytic, managerial, and logistical support to ensure that the school achieves its goals in the short and long terms. A central focus of this role will be driving the development and implementation of new academic programs, including certificates and other innovative offerings. The position serves as a member of the school’s senior leadership team and provides counsel to the Dean befitting that status.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Strategic and Analytical Support

  • Collaborate in the  strategic planning as well as the execution of steps pursuant to strategic goals, ensuring alignment between the school’s day-to-day operations and its broader mission.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making around key strategic and operational issues.

2. Academic Program Development:

  • Play a lead role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new academic offerings, including certificates and other innovative program formats. Oversee marketing and communications plans to support new programs.
  • Develop partnerships with day schools and other educational institutions to create appropriate programs for student and early career teachers.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, external partners, and university offices to ensure that new programs are mission-aligned, conform to accreditation standards, and are responsive to the evolving needs of Jewish education.

3. Project Management and Operations:

  • Develop and maintain systems to track projects, tasks, and institutional initiatives. Oversee execution of various special projects and school initiatives, including coordinating across units.
  • Manage governance processes and the creation of schedules, agendas, and materials for meetings. Facilitate the work of the Dean and the Associate Deans for Academic Affairs in ensuring healthy governance structures across the two colleges.
  • Partner with the Dean to oversee academic and business operations, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and goals.
  • Liaise with student-facing functions (e.g., registration, financial aid, advising) to support a high-quality student experience. 

4. Communications:

  • Collaborate with the Dean to prepare talking points and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • In partnership with the Dean, create opportunities to publicize excellence in faculty and student work.
  • Monitor and ensure appropriate responses to inquiries submitted to the Dean’s Office.
  • Ensure that all communications are professional, polished, and empathetic, and that they reflect the colleges’ mission.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is required. Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible full-time experience in higher education administration at U.S.-accredited institutions, with a focus on areas such as institutional research, strategic planning, assessment, or organizational improvement.
  • Experience developing and managing new educational programs is highly preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred.

  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, organizational management, and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in project management, strategic analysis, and time management.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment.
