Position Summary:

The Senior HRIS Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all HRIS data and overseeing key operational processes related to HRIS and Payroll Services. This role also manages auxiliary reporting functions and supports data needs across the institution. Reporting to the Director of HRIS, the position works collaboratively with Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, and ITS teams, and interacts with external auditors, vendors, benefits providers, government agencies, and internal University stakeholders responsible for payroll-related matters. In addition, the Senior HRIS Analyst contributes to gathering and analyzing business requirements, participating in system testing, and supporting change management activities related to system implementations, upgrades, patches, and ongoing enhancements.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Banner HRIS platform.
  • Manage system configurations, software updates, patches, and maintain data integrity across all HR systems.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolutions with ITS and external vendors.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of employee data within HR systems.
  • Design, generate, and deliver complex HR reports and dashboards to support stakeholders and leadership decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Payroll staff to coordinate various production pay cycles, and manage special mass processing such as adjunct and full-time faculty payments and associated upload procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits, compliance reporting, and data requests.
  • Analyze current HR processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and automation.
  • Automate manual HR tasks and optimize workflow within the HRIS environment.
  • Lead or support HRIS upgrades, testing efforts, and the implementation of new system modules and enhancements.
  • Act as a key liaison among HR, Payroll, ITS, and third-party vendors for system-related initiatives and support.
  • Provide user training, documentation, and technical support to HR staff and system end users.
  • Translate functional business requirements into system configurations and enhancements.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional HR technology projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • Document system changes, enhancement decisions, and user procedures to ensure continuity and compliance.
  • Resolve individual and group pay issues, including those related to union dues, contract changes, and their impact on production pay cycles.
  • Union employee annual step changes.

Specialized Functions

  • Banner HR Security.
  • Understand Banner class structures and how they align with HR job roles.
  • Analyze employee access requests and assign appropriate Banner classes based on job functions.
  • Monitor employee job changes to ensure system access is updated accordingly.
  • Manage user roles, permissions, and data access protocols.
  • Collaborate with HR and ITS on audits and security assessments.
  • Position Control (Banner & PageUp).
  • Perform HR and Finance-related tasks associated with Position Control.
  • Define positions in the Banner with appropriate budget and accounting data.
  • Verify active positions for accuracy.
  • Create position requisitions in PageUp.
  • Maintain department and organizational structure updates within PageUp.
  • FLSA Review: Ensure proper exempt/non-exempt classification for employees and update job/employee records accordingly.

Annual Processes

  • Fiscal Year-End Roll:
    o Configure new salary groups.
    o Create and execute Fiscal Year-End Roll rules.
  • Union Contractual Base Rate Increase:
    o Configure salary/rate structure rules.
    o Execute job roll processes related to union salary adjustments.
Experience & Education Background:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree or HRIS-specific certifications preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience working with HRIS systems such as Banner, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Strong background in HR operations, data management, and system administration.
  • Experience designing and generating reports using tools such as SQL, Argos, or Excel Pivot Tables.
  • Proven track record in troubleshooting system issues, supporting upgrades, and implementing new modules or enhancements.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes and data privacy regulations is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
  • The successful candidate should possess the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-departmental environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously, as well as understand the interconnectivity of workflow processing.
  • Must be able to work under pressure while managing numerous deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use Adobe Pro to create PDF files.
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize new systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment and track record in implementing continuous improvement techniques and processes.
  • Demonstrated outstanding skills in Human Resources management and service delivery.
  • SQL queries, report design and layout, dashboards, and Oracle banner database.
Salary Range: $92,000 - $97,000
