Position Summary:       

The Chinuch Program Director is responsible for advising, mentoring, and recruiting Yeshiva University students who are considering or preparing for professional careers in Chinuch (Jewish Education). This position provides individualized guidance to students, develops fellowship and educational programming, builds partnerships with Jewish schools and educational organizations, and supports students throughout their academic and career journeys. The Chinuch Program Director also teaches or co-teaches one course per semester at RIETS in partnership with the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration.

This position reports to the Associate Dean of the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Meet individually or in small groups with students who are considering/preparing for roles in chinuch to provide guidance.
  • Work with the Director of Semicha and the Director of Professional Rabbinics to consider the unique needs of students interested in school-based careers.
  • Teach or co-teach one course per semester at RIETS focused on applied pedagogy and curriculum development in Judaic studies (in conjunction with Azrieli).
  • Coordinate campus visits and programs with teachers and school leaders from the field.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of chinuch fellowships for RIETS students considering working in schools.
  • Oversee and liaise with year-long partner “kollel”/beis midrash program for senior RIETS students at North Shore, Frisch and other potential sites.
  • Support graduating students through their process of applying for jobs.
  • Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with relevant institutions and professionals in the field of Jewish education to inform student preparation and guidance.
  • Recruit students to consider careers in chinuch and continue their learning at RIETS.

Education and Experience:

  • Rabbinical degree (Semicha) required.
  • Experience working in Jewish education or a Jewish Day School environment.
  • Knowledge of classroom instruction, curriculum development, and educational leadership.
  • Experience advising, mentoring, or teaching students is preferred.
 
 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with students, educators, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Salary Range:

$80,000, - $80,000
