Position Summary:      

The Assistant Director, Digital Marketing & Communications executes Cardozo Law School's digital marketing program in support of Admissions, the Office of Institutional Advancement, and reputation goals. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Marketing & Communications, the Assistant Director works with the Associate Dean to translate the school's marketing priorities into digital execution across the website, email, and digital advertising.

This is a hands-on role. The Assistant Director serves as Cardozo's day-to-day operator for its content management system (Drupal) and its marketing automation and CRM platform (HubSpot) — building and maintaining web pages, landing pages, and email campaigns directly, while delegating routine production to a Communications Associate. For paid media, the Assistant Director serves as Cardozo's liaison to Yeshiva University's central marketing team and external agencies, advising on targeting and creative and maintaining the forms and conversion tracking that connect campaigns to admissions outcomes.

Core responsibilities include keeping the Cardozo website accurate and current in coordination with page owners across the school, building segmented email campaigns that engage current, prospective, and admitted students, supporting the Office of Institutional Advancement's alumni and donor communications, and reporting on digital marketing performance.

The Assistant Director is one of five marketing and communications professionals who lead the function for Cardozo and supervises one Communications Associate.

Position Responsibilities:

Website Strategy and Maintenance

  • Manage, update, strategize, and supervise page owners on Cardozo website
  • Build and make recommendations for new pages and features
  • Serve as point person for web and digital contractors, including those responsible for building new features
  • Oversee the creation of Hubspot landing pages for advertising and special use cases
  • Develop training resources for web and email editors across campus on maintaining and entering content
  • Remain current on and, in consultation with cross-campus stakeholders, adhere to legal and accessibility requirements for web.

CRM/Email Marketing

  • Own or oversee Hubspot email drip campaigns for prospective and admitted students
  • Advise and assist the Office of Institutional Advancement to effectively engage alumni and potential donor audiences
  • Improve segmentation of emails based on user attributes and behaviors, refine targeting based on results
  • Build and/or oversee creation of email templates as needed
  • Oversee event invitation and newsletter requests and deployment by junior staff
  • Consult with stakeholders on email performance, ensuring CRM data is properly integrated to measure results
  • Remain current on and, in consultation with cross-campus stakeholders, adhere to legal and accessibility requirements and best practices for email marketing, including opt-in and deliverability.

Digital Advertising

  • Serve as Cardozo's liaison to Yeshiva University's central marketing team and external agencies on J.D. and Master's digital advertising.
  • Provide feedback and input on keyword selection, targeting, tactics, and creative; ensure campaigns reflect Cardozo's positioning and priorities
  • Maintain Cardozo's HubSpot forms and conversion tracking, and work with YU and Admissions to ensure campaign outcomes can be tracked through application and enrollment
  • Stay current on digital advertising developments and bring new opportunities to the YU team for consideration
  • Participate in meetings with YU team and agencies, contractors, and vendors as appropriate

Analytics & Reporting

  • Collaborate with YU and Cardozo team to build dashboards and report on performance of website, advertising, social media, and content strategies, regularly make recommendations for improvement

Management

  • Supervise and mentor one Communications Associate, focused on operations and routine digital marketing execution (email builds and sends, web updates, contact list uploads)
  • Will supervise 1 Communications Associate

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or similar
  • 4+ years of experience in a digital marketing and/or communications role

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong experience with marketing automation, email, and CRM tools; experience in Hubspot strongly preferred
  • Strong experience with web and CMS tools, Drupal preferred
  • Experience with analytics and reporting platforms and tools (Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Excel, etc.)
  • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge
  • Experience with digital advertising execution or oversight
  • Strong project management competency
  • Very strong writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with stakeholders and colleagues across the organization on both technical and non-technical matters
  • Experience interpreting data and presenting it in a digestible way to senior and executive staff
