Position Summary:      

The person in this position will help support all aspects of the work of the National Immigration Habeas Institute (NIHI), a project of the Center for Immigration Innovation at Cardozo.  NIHI is a new project that was launched at the law school last year in collaboration with the National Immigration Litigation Alliance to help train immigration lawyers to litigate federal habeas corpus petitions.  In total, over the two organizations, there are six paid staff members.  In addition, NIHI engages various independent contractors for mentoring and other roles.  NIHI is fully funded for the coming year, and for this position, via grants from the Ford Foundation and Freedom Together Foundation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Help prepare and run immigration habeas trainings across the country.
  • Assist in mentoring new attorneys litigating their first habeas petitions.
  • Developing substantive resources for NIHI.
  • Working on related litigation and advocacy projects.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • A law degree is required.
  • Recent graduates with pending bar results are welcome.

Salary Range:

$80,000-$80,000
