Position Summary: The Athletics Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and administration of the MTA athletic program, ensuring a positive and well-managed experience for student-athletes, coaches, and families. Responsibilities include recruiting and supervising JV and Varsity coaches, developing clear communication plans for parents and teams, coordinating game schedules and staffing, and creating supervision assignments to ensure appropriate coverage at all athletic events.
Position Responsibilities: 
  • Managing the process for Hiring Coaches and assistant coaches for YUHSB athletic teams
  • Schedule tryouts and practices in coordination with MTA administration
  • Liaison with the Yeshiva league, scheduling all of the teams' games
  • Transportation arrangements for students to and from athletic events
  • Communication with students and parents about scheduling and transportation
  • Coordination of sports trophies and banquet events
  • Supervise daily Gym classes for all grades
  • Coordinate and oversee lunchtime intramurals in the MSAC
  • Will act as JV hockey coach and varsity hockey assistant coach
Experience & Education Background:
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience with athletic coordination
Skills & Competencies:
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, schedules, and events simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, coaches, faculty, administrators, officials, and opposing schools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively with all stakeholders
  • Experience recruiting, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating coaches while fostering a positive and accountable team culture
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to anticipate and address operational needs before they arise
  • Ability to organize and oversee athletic events, including scheduling, staffing, supervision, transportation, and game-day logistics
  • Commitment to student development, sportsmanship, leadership, and the educational value of athletics
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive matters
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by athletic schedules
  • Demonstrated understanding of and appreciation for the mission, values, and culture of Yeshiva University High School for Boys
  • Ability to promote an athletic program that reflects MTA's commitment to Torah values, middos, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth
  • Sensitivity to the unique needs and rhythms of a yeshiva environment, including the school calendar, and the importance of fostering a positive religious and educational atmosphere
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model who supports the overall educational and spiritual mission of the school
