Position Summary:
|
Reporting directly to the Program Director, Occupational Therapy, this individual supports the University in fulfillment of its mission, purpose and goals. Provides program-specific expertise and is actively engaged in relevant department initiatives. Supports University, Campus, and/or departmental goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet student learning, workplace and placement expectations. Provides professional leadership and support, and serves as an educator, role model, mentor and facilitator. Facilitates the academic and fieldwork faculty to: develop, monitor, and refine the fieldwork education component as part of the curriculum; ensure quality learning experiences for students during fieldwork education; evaluate students’ performance and their ability to integrate didactic and fieldwork learning experiences and to progress within the curriculum; educate students, fieldwork and academic faculty about fieldwork education; ensure that the fieldwork learning environment demonstrates characteristics of sound patient management, professional behavior , and is current with occupational therapy practice; ensure that the fieldwork education program maximizes available resources. Serves as a liaison between the Occupational Therapy program and the fieldwork education sites and is responsible for the establishment of fieldwork site and fieldwork faculty standards, implementation, selection, orientation, and evaluation of fieldwork sites, and fosters the ongoing development of fieldwork education programs and their faculty.
This is a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position, rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Position Responsibilities:
|
INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain sufficient release time to fulfill the role of the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
- Teach all courses related to fieldwork preparation
- Teach a maximum of 4 credits per semester
SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES:
- Attend professional development activities each year as agreed upon with supervisor in associate development plan.
- Select a minimum of one of the following activity areas: publishing & writing, acting as contributor to textbooks, presenting at conferences or educational trainings, attending test-writing or accreditation activities, serving on thesis dissertation committee or other agreed upon professional activity.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND SERVICE:
- Embrace to university culture and attend Department and University meetings/councils as arranged/approved by program director.
- Contribute/demonstrate ongoing service in at least one of the following areas:
- Community or Public Service
- Profession (member of professional organization)
- University/Occupational Therapy program
- Maintain license and professional memberships (State and National).
- Demonstrate an active leadership role in University and in the Community or Profession.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC:
- Facilitate the academic and fieldwork faculty to: develop, monitor, and refine the fieldwork education component as part of the curriculum.
- Evaluate students’ performance and their ability to integrate didactic and fieldwork learning experience.
- Establishment of fieldwork site and fieldwork faculty standards.
- Provide academic support to students and fieldwork educators.
GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, develop and maintain fieldwork sites/contracts.
- Arrange and manage fieldwork placements
- Maintain communication with fieldwork educators and ensure compliance to fieldwork completion requirements.

Experience & Educational Background:
|
- Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or related field from an accredited university required.
- Certified by NBCOT (The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) as an OTR (Registered Occupational Therapist) required.
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of New York required.
- Previous academic fieldwork preferred.
- Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by any accreditation body that the university is accredited by or in process of obtaining accreditation from, for area of expertise and expectations of faculty member as set forth in regulatory documents and any professional certifications deemed necessary to meet the requirements of the teaching role.
