Position Summary:

The Yeshiva University Office of Student Life oversees student government, student clubs and events, Shabbat programming, orientations, new student programming, Service Learning missions, leadership development programs and the ANSWERS hotline. The mission of our office is to enhance campus life in real and meaningful ways. We seek to increase student pride, develop strong student leaders and instill a sense of communal life at YU.

The Student Life team is constantly engaging with students, other university offices and the broader community. We are always evaluating new ideas and searching for new ways to tackle challenges. A successful fellow in our department will be a hands-on team member who will regularly interact and collaborate with the student body. He/she will gain competencies in the following areas: leadership training skills, communication skills, teamwork, program development, organizational management, event planning, marketing, and program evaluation. A fellowship in our office provides an opportunity to gain valuable professional skills, working with great people in a fast paced, fun environment. We also welcome our fellow’s input and creativity in developing new and unique experiences for the student community.

This is a one-year, full-time position.

Position Responsibilities:

The Stanton Fellow in the Student Life office will focus on the following areas of responsibility:

  • Work with YU staff and Student Leaders to help plan events and programs
  • Interface with Events Office, Dining Services, IT Dept, and staff of other university areas to implement event logistics
  • Work with Student Life staff on major campus initiatives: Orientations, Concerts, Holiday events, Club Fairs, Open Houses and Special guest visits
  • Assist with marketing, recruitment and implementation of Service Learning missions
  • Handle sign-ups for shabbatonim and other student events
  • Help new students get acclimated to life at YU
  • Create new programs to enhance campus life; work on school pride initiatives
  • Design and implement leadership training seminars for Student Government
  • Assist in answering the ANSWERS@yu.edu hotline
  • Represent Office of Student Life at meetings and planning sessions

Experience & Educational Background:

  •  Recent Yeshiva University graduate

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills/attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy, front desk service-oriented setting
  • Competency with technology, graphic design and social media strongly preferred

Scope of Responsibility:

The Stanton Fellow will be mentored by the Director of Student Events.
