Position Summary:      

The Assistant Director engages in extensive one-on-one career counseling for students and alumni and assists in developing programming to develop career building skills.  The Assistant Director will coordinate judicial internships and post-graduate clerkships in state and federal court. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling, orientation and information to students from admission through graduation
  • Provide counseling and career related resources to Cardozo’s alumni as requested
  • The Assistant Director will coordinate judicial internships and post-graduate clerkships in state and federal court. 
  • As counselor to both students and alumni, help refine and implement best practices for resume and cover letters, interviewing techniques and strategies, finding and exploiting networking opportunities and job search methodology
  • Be the ambassador for the Office of Career Services among alumni and alumni groups
  • The Assistant Director will report to the Associate Dean of Career Services

Experience & Educational Background:

  • JD preferred, with at least 3 years of experience practicing as an attorney and/or career counselor
  • Knowledge of the legal market and job search strategies for lawyers required. Knowledge of New York market strongly preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must possess strong leadership skills and be able to navigate multiple viewpoints and constituencies with a positivity and professionalism
  • Must be able to provide advice and counsel to students as well as colleagues within Career Services and throughout the law school
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required
