Job Summary:

Responsible for the smooth operation of the house during the run of the show

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

High School diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Related experience in house management, event management, and/or public interaction.
Considerable skill in providing exemplary customer service
Considerable skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A minimum of two years of customer service experience

Essential Duties:

• Ensure that public event areas are clean and coordinated with event supervisor regarding any special set ups required in the lobby.
• Provide emergency direction to patrons and ushers in emergency situations such as inclement weather or fire. Provide first aid as needed or contact emergency authorities. Know and apply all safety regulations and procedures.
• Fulfill requests from Arts Center management or event supervisor regarding program stuffing, special needs seating, retail sales, autograph signing or other special event requirements.
• Check in volunteer ushers and conduct a pre-show briefing. Assign duties for the evening. Consider usher requests, but deploy work fairly and reasonably.
• Coordinate the opening of the house and intermissions with the event supervisor.
• Assist ushers and patrons as needed. Resolve any complaints or problems promptly and with friendly professionalism.
• Monitor ushers and audience throughout performance, keeping an eye on issues that need resolution. Be visibly present in the house on in the lobby at all times during the event.
• Assist concessions and retail sales as needed. If Arts Center lends starting cash for retail sales, ensure that our starting bank is verified and returned to the safe at the end of the event. Ensure that all sales proceeds are verified and hand-delivered to authorized person at the end of the event.
• Secure house after show.
• Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
• Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
• Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
• Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
• Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

 

Other Duties:

• Submit ideas, reports or suggestions as requested or as the arise.
• Attend periodic training and staff meetings.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
