Work Schedule:

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 13 with a minimum of $22.64 and a midpoint of $30.19. Hourly rate offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by coordinating events and performances in the Performing Arts Center. Work is distinguished by the ability to determine the technical requirements of performances, to direct the theater technicians working during the performance and to oversee the safety of both performers and patrons. General supervision is received from the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. Two years technical theater or event management experience.
  3. Good knowledge of the principles of stagecraft, basic rigging, lighting and sound control systems.
  4. Considerable skill in written and verbal communications.
  5. Considerable skill in providing exemplary customer service.
  6. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

1. Identify and prioritize needs of performers.
2. Coordinate theater technicians during productions, production set-up and tear-down, including lighting, sound, scenery and stage management for events.
3. Oversee live performances and work with house management to address any patron concerns. Maintain safety of patrons and performers during performances.
4. Maintain stewardship of production facilities. Ensure facilities are clean and well-maintained.
5. Construct, paint, setup, tear-down sets for all productions within the ECC theaters and other events, as assigned.
6. Load and unload scenery and equipment.
7. Handle rigging to move equipment, sets, lights, etc. for productions.
8. Hang, focus, setup, and tear-down light fixtures.
9. Set-up and tear down sound equipment.
10. Act as general stagehand for all performances, as required.
11. Store and maintain props, costumes, lights, tools, etc.
12. Perform maintenance and repair of all theater and scene shop equipment.
13. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification
14. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
15. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
16. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
17. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

 

Other Duties:

  1. May use a truck and/or other machines to deliver/remove scenery and equipment.
  2. Run light board during rehearsals, techs, and performances.
  3. Operate sound board during rehearsals, techs, and performances.
  4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  5. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
