Remote (Zoom) Wednesdays from 12:00 PM – 1:10 PM (01/13/2025 – 05/15/2025) teach PAR 204 – Legal Research.

Job Summary:
|
Adjunct teaching faculty provide instruction aligned with the college's strategic goals and evaluate students' progress to facilitate achievement of their educational goals. |
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
|
Minimum Degree: Juris Doctor or graduate of an ABA-approved paralegal program with total education of a Bachelor's Degree plus 18 hours.
Work Experience: Two of the last 5 years as an instructor in an ABA-approved paralegal program or 2 of the last 5 years as a lawyer working full-time in field to be taught or 2 of the last 5 years working full-time as a paralegal in the field to be taught.
ABA Requirements: Paralegal faculty must attend at least one ABA-faculty meeting per calendar year and submit documentation of at least three hours of continuing education related to teaching.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
|
An ideal candidate has experience as a community college student or working with community college students, preferably within District 509 or similarly situated districts. The candidate should be familiar with Westlaw and legal research. ts

Essential Duties:
|
Deliver Instruction 1. Conduct assigned classes and/or labs 2. Prepare lessons 3. Provide course syllabus (which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavioral expectations, course outline and contact information) 4. Verify student enrollment and submit grade sheets
Evaluate Student Progress 1. Keep accurate record of student performance 2. Provide students with timely feedback
Provide Student Assistance 1. Maintain office hours and voice-mail/e-mail communication 2. Refer students to student support services 3. Accommodate special needs students
