Work Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday 7AM - 4PM - Flexibility for Evening/Weekend Coverage

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 213 with a minimum of $56,661 and a midpoint of $75,548. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing high-level technical expertise in the use of all A/V equipment at the college. Work is distinguished by the ability to design and implement solutions for events and provide on-site support as necessary.
General supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in A/V or a computer technology related field or a minimum of 4 years of education and experience working with specialized A/V equipment, technical troubleshooting, and event coordination or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of A/V systems and various automation control systems used during client presentations and events including camera systems, audio systems, virtual meeting technologies.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of troubleshooting A/V related issues and working with clients and contractors when necessary to resolve issues.
  4. Considerable skills to explain technical information to clients, colleagues, vendors, and contractors of varying skill levels.
  5. Considerable skills preparing documentation to ensure proper training materials and how-to guides can be made available to operate the A/V equipment on campus.
  6. Considerable skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
  7. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  8. Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  9. Working skills in verbal and written communication.
  10. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  11. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Coordinate with Facilities Rental staff, IT staff, and clients to explain A/V technology available at the college for various events throughout the year.  Recommend solutions based on client needs.  Ensure equipment is available as well as set up/torn down in a timely manner for all events taking place on campus.  Seek assistance from other departmental technicians as necessary to ensure events run smoothly.
  2. Serve as a top-level departmental resource for resolving highly technical problems specifically related to Audio Visual technologies. Work within a departmental help desk system to manage, track, and document all problems and solutions to issues on campus.
  3. Keep track of incoming and outgoing A/V equipment that is being used on the campus.  Unbox and build new A/V solutions as necessary, such as TV/Virtual Meeting carts, portable sound systems, projector carts, portable screens.  Diagnose and repair A/V equipment on campus when necessary.  Ensure digital signage system is operational at all times.
  4. Provide expertise to upper management when designing and developing new A/V systems throughout campus.  When new systems are installed, responsible for knowledge transfer and ensuring proper documentation/training material is available for users.  How-to guides.
  5. Research available A/V related technology that may be useful for the environment.  Stay on top of trends in the field and maintain an overall knowledge of how to use virtual streaming platforms.
  6. Participate in various planning committees for high-level events taking place on campus.  Graduation ceremonies, convocations, etc.
  7. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  8. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  9. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  10. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  11. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

Other Duties:

  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.

Physical Demands:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity:

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Work Environment:

Moderate noise.

Environmental Conditions:

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Outdoor weather conditions.
