Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 12 with a minimum of $37,875. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing support to the students through enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program and in alignment with the requirements of the recent Early Childhood Access Consortium for Equity (ECACE) contract.  Work is distinguished by the ability to this role will assist students as they navigate the program by connecting them to existing support services within the institution, academic support, and serving as a liaison to faculty for students support. General supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field, with a minimum of two years’ experience in an early childhood education setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. Considerable knowledge Illinois DCFS 407 licensing regulations, Illinois Early Learning Standards and Illinois Gateways competencies.
  3. Considerable knowledge of record keeping and reporting.  
  4. Considerable skills in collaborating and accessing required resources for program participants with a student-centered approach to support.
  5. Working skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  6. Working skill in training users and creating training documentation.
  7. Working skills in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
  8. Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  9. Working skills in verbal and written communication.
  10. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  11. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Manage a caseload of students through positive responsive relationships while supporting students’ professional development and academic progress; collaborate with support services and provide referrals when appropriate; serve as a liaison between students and faculty.
  2. Support students’ professional development through key programming and workshops related to the early childhood education profession.
  3. Conduct outreach to incumbent workforce members and promote program offerings.
  4. Abide by ECACE Contract guidelines and contribute to timely completion of reports, spending and other assessment related activities.
  5. Connect students to ISAC and ICCB managed ECE scholarship program as outlined by the ECACE contact.
  6. Follow all college policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  7. Assigned to an area of specialty such as outreach to incumbent workforce (early childhood workers) while demonstrating and maintaining an understanding of the work of peers to provide support as needed.
  8. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications.
  9. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws.
  10. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  11. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  12. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.

1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
