Work Schedule:

MONDAY - FRIDAY 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 8 with a minimum of $33,019 and a midpoint of $36,700. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty performing grounds maintenance, landscaping and snow removal. Immediate supervision is given by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
2. Working skill in the operation and maintenance of lawnmowers and equipment for landscaping, parking lot maintenance and snow removal.
3. Working skill planting, weeding and performing grounds maintenance.
4. Working skill in the maintenance and repair of parking lots and sidewalks.

5. Valid Illinois driver's license

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

1. Operate lawnmowers and various equipment used in landscaping, parking lot maintenance, and snow removal.
2. Assist in planting, weeding and ground maintenance.
3. Assist with tree trimming, clean up, and removal.
4. Assist in the maintenance or repair of parking lots and sidewalks.
5. Assist in furniture and equipment moves.
6. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
7. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
8. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
9. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
10. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

Other Duties:

1. Assist with pick up/drop off of donations for various college departments.
2. Post banners and set up barricades for special events on campus.
3. Post signs notifying the students and staff of events on campus.
4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description. 

5. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
