Rate of Pay/Benefits:

This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 14, with an annual salary range of  $54,389 to $72,518. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty in the recruitment of  youth and identify skill-appropriate career opportunities for program participants as prescribed in the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Work is distinguished by the ability to develop relationships with local employers and internal departments to create work based learning opportunities for participants and conduct workshops designed to improve career readiness and job search skills. General supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required
  2. Three or more years experience in one of the following fields: career advising/counseling, case management, student employment, or related area.
  3. Two or more years experience working with students, unemployed clients, and/or youth with barriers, with at least one year if experience working with non-native English speakers.
  4. Experience recruiting, conducting presentations/workshops, and determining program eligibility.
  5. Experience with community college career readiness, program development, or case management experience
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams.
  7. Abilility to work on-one-one with resume writing, professional development, and career exploration.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Develop relationships with public and private sectors employers for the purpose of securing employment leads, data, and paid work experience opportunities for participants. Maintain positive relationships with participants and employers to resolve conflicts and issues encountered by either party. Conduct regular site visits to organizations and provide participants with orientation and ongoing support.
  2. Recruit and determine eligibility of participants for experiential learning activities including: career exploration, paid work experience, job shadow, pre-apprenticeship, leadership development, etc. through individual appointments, information sessions, attending community events, job fairs, and other outreach activities monthly to promote program and complete proper intake materials/application. 
  3. Work with coordinator and director in developing individual plans and other required grant documentation and/or systems for all participants. Update employment related information on all grant required documentation such as participants’ plan of action, employment information, and obtain up-to date paystub for reporting requirements. Provide connections to employment and community support services to reduce barriers. Identify and refer to community resources and support services that would benefit the student (i.e., class room accommodations, daycare, emergency food, housing, rental or utility assistance)
  4. Plan, execute, and facilitate job readiness workshops; provide participants access to computerized employment networks, career centers, workshops; arrange for appropriate guest speakers from the social services and arrange business field trips. Provide one-on-one career advising with each participant, develop comprehensive resumes for each individual, and provide on-going employment leads for a minimum of one year for each participant.
  5. Collect and maintain data for grant reports on a monthly basis. Attain and adhere to grant outcomes.
