Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM

Rate of Pay:

This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 14, with an annual salary range of $54,932 to $73,243. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

The CRSS Internship and Training Coordinator leads the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Program’s internship and training components by guiding students in preparing for and securing internships, enhancing their professional skills, and developing supplemental training opportunities. This position serves as the primary point of contact for students, internship sites, training providers, and Elgin Community College offices, ensuring effective partnerships and seamless program operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Business, or a closely related field. 
  2. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead program coordination and student development initiatives.
  3. 2–4 years of professional experience in student advising, workforce development, internship coordination, or training program management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with diverse student populations, community partners, and internal stakeholders.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Experience building and maintaining partnerships with employers, training providers, or community organizations strongly preferred.
  2. Master's degree preferred.

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Student Career Preparation: Design and deliver individual and group coaching to strengthen résumés, cover letters, recommendation letters, and related materials. Facilitate mock interviews with feedback on advanced strategies. Develop career-readiness workshops tailored to human services job search skills. Assess student readiness for internships and employment, recommending support as needed.
  2. Internship Placement: Manage internship placements aligned with student goals, program requirements, and location preferences. Evaluate student readiness and recommend appropriate placements. Maintain and analyze placement data to inform process improvements.
  3. Internship Site Relationship Management: Build and expand partnerships with internship sites to enhance opportunities and program quality. Serve as primary liaison with site supervisors, resolving concerns and ensuring communication. Conduct regular site visits to evaluate student experiences and recommend improvements.
  4. Training Facilitation & Coordination: Plan and coordinate supplemental training sessions aligned with student needs and program goals. Manage logistics and contracts with external trainers and internal departments. Facilitate workshops and support groups (e.g., WRAP, state exam prep), incorporating student feedback for continuous improvement.
  5. Student Training Registration & Records: Oversee student registration and communication for training sessions. Track and report participation and evaluations to enhance training effectiveness.

Physical Demands:

Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Visual Acuity:

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).
