Rate of Pay/Benefits:

This is a Part-Time Support Staff position at grade 9, with an hourly pay rate of $16.64 to $19.18. The offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:
|
The Fitness Center Attendant supports the daily operation of the Elgin Community College Fitness Center by monitoring student activity, ensuring a safe workout environment, and upholding facility policies. The position assists with orienting students to equipment, maintaining cleanliness and functionality of fitness equipment, and providing guidance to work‑study student employees.
|

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
|
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Knowledge of Fitness Center equipment and operations.
- First aid and CPR certification required.
|
|

Essential Duties:
|
- Orient new students to the facilities and equipment.
- Oversee use of Fitness Center facilities. Enforce the rules of the Fitness Center.
- Provide information for students regarding current events in the Fitness Center.
- Oversee student workers and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Track student workers’ schedules for accuracy and punctuality.
- Maintain Fitness Center equipment. Make minor repairs as needed; notify management if need for further maintenance is required.
- Maintain Fitness Center supplies inventory.
- Report any problem with equipment to management.

Other Duties:
|
- Assist in Fitness Center enrollment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.

Physical Demands:
|
Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Visual Acuity:

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).
