SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12 month position/PSRS
This position contributes to night meetings or weekend events, as needed.
Position Summary
This position provides administrative oversight and assumes responsibility for aspects of the Career Center and provides support to the College Director of High School Programs. The Career Center operates as an area high school. It provides secondary students with an innovative approach to receive integrated career and technical education (CTE) training and relevant employability skills to enhance college and career readiness. The Assistant Director develops operating procedures while also providing administrative support to the Career Center. The Assistant Director cultivates relationships with a wide variety of internal faculty and staff, external school partners and the community for the benefit of students. The essential functions of this position require a physical presence onsite.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide administrative oversight of the daily operations for the Career Center operating as an area high school.
- Serve as designated contact for the Career Center, which currently has 25 high schools from 20 districts in two OTC locations, their administration, mutual students, and parents/guardians.
- Provide general academic and technical education support to students, faculty and staff to enhance college and career readiness.
- Create and maintain effective relationships with area school partners, the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE), college departments, technical education, community partners and area employers.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel.
- Respond to referrals for student discipline, coaches' students, and administers student discipline. Makes referrals to counseling, if appropriate, and works in cooperation with all school officials to improve behavior issues while following policies of the college, consortium school districts and state requirements.
- Coordinate all functions of and prepares the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) under Perkins V Act (occurs even fiscal year) and the Common Criteria Quality Indicators (CCQI), which occurs in the odd fiscal year for the southwest Missouri district region.
- Prepare, submit and maintain Industry Recognized Credential (IRC) approvals for secondary programs and related post-secondary equivalents through DESE.
- Collaborate with local business partners to establish internships and career readiness experiences.
- Coordinate student arrival and dismissal with district transportation; assign adult supervision.
- Work with appropriate personnel to coordinate courses offered for secondary students.
- Review and make recommendation of student placement from Career Center applications.
- Review and recommend determination of necessary student dismissals and coordinates communications and a transition plan.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of faculty and staff.
- Lead all aspects of student recruitment initiatives surrounding marketing and promotion of the Career Center program.
- Identify and create professional learning opportunities relevant to the Career Center team.
- Participate in a shared responsibility of marketing and recruitment of the Middle College program.
- Assist with all high school program services including campus tours, student orientation, assemblies, graduation, special events, and retention efforts for the technical education division.
- Act as a liaison between the institution and external stakeholders.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Master’s degree in secondary school administration from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Valid Missouri teaching certificate with Career Educator Director Certification from the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
- Three years of relevant work experience as a school administrator or counselor.
- Three years of relevant work experience in teaching.
- Knowledge of school accountability structure and evaluation of schools.
- Ability to work without direct supervision and able to use discretion to determine the need for elevated administrative involvement.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Specialist degree in Secondary School Administration from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Five years of relevant work experience in teaching.
- Understanding of the Career and Technical Education field.
- Experience with Colleague.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
