Department Overview:

Woodland Montessori School (WMS) partners with families to form a caring community to best support every child enrolled. Families and staff work together, with the child as the center of all decisions and aspects of the school operation. It is our hope that everyone involved in the Woodland community will find a rich and rewarding experience that always seeks to do what is best for children.

WMS, founded in 1970, is a non-profit corporation governed by a board of directors consisting of parents, staff, and community representatives. Woodland has a long and successful history in Madison and a strong reputation for high quality Montessori and Early Childhood Education in the surrounding area.

Woodland offers a carefully prepared Montessori environment, rich in variety and learning experiences that lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Positions:

-Full-Time Late-Day Teachers: Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., 35 hours/week

-Full-Time Float Teacher: Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 5:45 p.m., 30 hours/week

 

Age Groups: 16 mo. - 3.5 year olds, 3 – 6 year olds and 6 - 9 year olds

 

Duration: 06/10/2024- 08/23/2024, with the opportunity to internally apply for any 2024-25 school year openings.

 

Pay: Base wage $15.87 + related education and experience and a $500 sign-on bonus!

Woodland Montessori School is seeking teachers for our Summer Camp program in our Montessori Early Childhood Education environment. We are searching for individuals who are enthusiastic about early childhood education and willing to commit to our three mission driven incentives of diversity, inclusion, and environmental stewardship . Description: The Morning and Late Day Teachers are responsible for implementing program activities as part of the teaching team, providing help to the Lead Teachers in all areas of classroom programming. This includes, but is not limited to, carrying out Montessori philosophy, supervising children, communicating with parents, and providing a healthy and safe environment for children.

The ideal person has interest and/or knowledge of the Montessori philosophy, excitement and dedication to work with young children, a "Can Do" attitude, is a team player, and someone with the ability to develop exceptional relationships with children, parents, and co-workers. 

 

Minimum Requirements: At least 18 years of age to work with children at a state licensed child care facility, State licensing required trainings to work with young children, and must be able to pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check, which includes WI Fingerprint submission, Infant/Child CPR/First Aid (Woodland will provide CPR training if needed)

 

Preferred, but not required: BA or BS degree in education or related field, students enrolled in Education related fields at the college level, an AMS or AMI Montessori credential, Wisconsin Registry credential, or a DPI Early Childhood or Kindergarten license. 

 

Physical demands:

● Must be able to perform all reasonable teacher physical demands

● Must be able to lift and carry an individual weighing 50 lbs

● Must be able stand for periods greater than 6 hours

● Must be able to walk up and down stairs continuously

● Must be able to turn, squat, kneel, crouch, and bend over without issue

● Must be able to work all contracted daily hours uninterrupted (besides designated break) 

● Must be able to work all weekly contracted hours
