Schedule:

WORK HOURS: This hourly position will work within the facility's operating hours. Typical working hours may include a variety of schedules, Monday through Friday. As project deadlines and events dictate, holiday, weekend, and evening hours will be needed.

Hours: Monday: 12:30 pm-6:00 pm & 1:30 pm-7:00 pm Tuesday-Friday

 

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $16.25 to $17.50

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Youth Development Professionals will work with school-aged youth and middle school/teens in a licensed childcare environment during our after-school and non-school day programming with the opportunity to move to temporary full-time employment in the Summer.

Training is provided! Meals provided!

Location: Allied Family Center (West Madison/Fitchburg) 

Position Description:

This position will work with school-aged youth ages 5-18 years old in an out of school time environment. This position will work closely with other staff and will plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities and programs provided for youth. This position may include occasional evenings/weekend hours to accommodate special events, field trips, and community programs.

Responsibilities Include:

· Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, engaging activities for youth (5-18 years of age) using Boys & Girls Clubs of America Curriculum and the Young Star School-Age Curricular Framework.

· Providing positive guidance, role modeling, and daily support to members.

· Maintaining an environment that is supportive of volunteers and supports partnerships with community organizations

· Implementation of grant-funded programs and outcomes.

· Adherence to all regulations as specified in DCF 251.

· Participation in The Registry and Young Star program evaluation.

· Contributing to the overall Club climate for youth development that includes but is not limited to program collaboration, attendance and active participation in staff meetings and training (daily, weekly, organizational), appropriate child guidance of members when necessary, and attendance at club special events as communicated by supervisor.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Required to participate in special programs and/or events as assigned

· May be required to drive Club vans

· May require occasional night/weekend/additional day hours

· Other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the mission and vision of Boys & Girls Clubs

WORK LOCATION: This direct service position reports to an assigned Club location daily. May work from multiple locations based on the needs of the organization.

Qualifications:

Child Care Staff Qualifications:

· At least 18 years of age, *17-year-olds with a DPI Assistant Teacher certification eligible

· High School Diploma/GED/HSED required

· At least 240 hours of previous experience working with youth in a licensed childcare or comparable environment is strongly preferred

· Program Leader Qualified within 90 days of accepting the role (Training Provided by the organization)

· Eligibility as a Caregiver as determined by the Department of Children and Families

· Successful completion of drug test screening and physical examination

· The ability and desire to work with youth in various settings.

· CPR within 3 months of accepting the role (Training Provided by the organization)

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts, and/or technical information with others. Ability to visually monitor the activities of club members. The employee is required to be able to perform CPR or first aid. The employee must use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, and stoop, jump, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
