Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

  • The Human Resources office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Act as a point of contact for the Human Resources (HR) office in person and via email
  • Coordinate the posting of our open student job positions, improving the functionality and maintaining the Wisconsin Union Jobs application site
  • Assist in coordination of the on-boarding of our new employees, including verifying identification materials and training requirements 
  • Support multilingual employees from diverse backgrounds through HR processes
  • Brainstorm ideas for student retention/ recruiting 
  • Complete HR projects as assigned (referral program, application follow ups, general office duties)

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow directions 
  • Able to work independently and collectively as a team 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • This position requires the ability to make positive connections while being helpful with patrons and coworkers
  • Underclassmen, international, and bilingual students strongly encouraged to apply
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check

Student Status

To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
