Position Summary/Job Duties:

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Domestic Helper to assist a senior individual’s home and the owner’s home. The role includes providing household duties (light cleaning),  meal preparation, organization, laundry, and light maintenance of plants/yard. The ideal candidate will be attentive, empathetic, and experienced in assisting seniors with post-surgery recovery while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe home environment.  When the senior recovers from surgery, the domestic helper can switch to complete household support/manager responsibilities in definitely.

Work Environment:

  • Owners work from home and need help with their home care and taking care of their elderly parents.
  • Work primarily indoors with some outdoor cleaning and plant care (if applicable).
  • Flexible work hours (full-time/part-time options).
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Organizing:  Organize household items, including clothes, books, and kitchenware. Fold laundry and store it neatly in designated areas.  Maintain order in storage spaces. Label where necessary
  2. Laundry and Ironing: Wash, dry, fold, and iron clothing and household linens.  Sort laundry by color, type, and fabric. Organize and maintain the laundry area.
  3. Meal Preparation:  Help prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to household preferences and dietary needs. Plan and execute weekly meal plans, ensuring meals are balanced and nutritious. Assist with meal prep related to purchased groceries (e.g., chopping, storing). As needed, help prepare and cook meals from scratch, including salads, soups, main courses, and desserts.  Package and store leftover meals appropriately for future use. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen before, during, and after meal preparation.
  4. Cleaning Duties:  Household already has a regular cleaning service. But, on a regular basis, maintain / sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and living areas. Prior to cleaning service put stuff away. After meals, start the robot to sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.  Change bed linens, make beds, and organize pillows and blankets.  Empty trash bins and take out garbage as needed.
  5. Plant Care:  Water indoor and outdoor plants regularly according to their needs.  Prune dead leaves and stems, ensuring plants remain healthy. Fertilize plants as needed and maintain a plant care schedule.
  6. Grocery Shopping: Create grocery lists based on weekly meal plans and household needs.  Maintain a running list of household supplies, including food and non-food items.  Stock pantry, fridge, and freezer with necessary ingredients. Monitor expiration dates of food and ensure proper storage.
  7. Errands: Do other errands as appropriate (like handling shopping/returns).

 

Qualifications:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have at least one year of experience related to personal assistance (or nanny), culinary, home care, etc
  • Must be willing to drive to our home. Valid driver license and car.
  • Must be available 15-20 hours per week during regular office hours (Monday - Friday 9-5pm). Some weekend work will be required (need basis).
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. Detail-oriented and thorough in completing cleaning and organizing duties.
  • Experience in meal preparation and cooking, with knowledge of basic nutrition.
  • Ability to follow recipes and adapt to specific dietary needs or preferences.
  • Knowledge of plant care and maintenance, including watering, pruning, and pest management.
  • Experience with grocery shopping, including budgeting, food selection, and storage.
  • Trustworthy, and reliable.
  • Punctual
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle various tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, cooking large meals, shopping for groceries, and watering plants).
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to respect privacy and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of eco-friendly or non-toxic cleaning products.
  • Basic culinary skills or certifications in food preparation and safety.
  • Experience with meal planning and portion control.
  • Interest in gardening or plant care.
  • Preparation and Management of a Home Moving Project
