OCSC is a year-round competitive swim program serving swimmers ages 6-18 of all skill levels–from novice to zone qualifiers. Our club is home to 125+ swimmers and led by a team of dedicated coaches and a supportive, volunteer based parent board. Position Overview:
We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic coach to join our staff for the 2025-2026 short-course season. The assistant coach will work under the guidance of the Head Coach and Program Director, helping lead practices, support swimmers with technical improvements, and assist at meets.
This is a part-time role, with hours ranging from 10-25 per week depending on your availability and our team needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist Head Coaches during weekday, evening practices
- Attend and support swimmers at scheduled weekend meets
- Provide individualized technical feedback to swimmers
- Foster a safe, friendly, and competitive training environment
- Optional: Run stroke clinics outside of regular practice hours (additional pay for this time)
What We’re Looking For:
- Competitive swimming background and solid grasp of stroke technique and training concepts
- 2+ years of previous coaching experience
- Positive, energetic personality and a genuine love for working with young athletes
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lead while maintaining a fun, supportive atmosphere
- Ability to work cooperatively with swimmers, families and coaches
- Experience with Team Unify, Sports Engine Motion, Team/Meet Manager is a plus
Certifications (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire date):
- Lifeguarding, CPR, First-Aid & AED
- Current USA Swimming Coach certifications
Hours and Salary
- 10-25 hours/week depending on availability
- Pay is $20/hour+ based on experience and qualifications
- Opportunities for salaried arrangement available
