Position Summary/Job Duties: | POSITION: Tennis Instructor Lead- Fall and Spring

LOCATION: McFarland Tennis Courts- 6309 Johnson Street, McFarland, WI 53558
COMPENSATION: $20.00-$25.00 based on experience
HOURS: Approximately 16-18 hours in fall/ 16-18 hours in spring
PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of athletes while they learn skills, sportsmanship, and fair play in regard to the game of tennis.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach tennis skills and activities to an assigned group of participants (youth and adults) while focusing on skill development, safety, fair play, sportsmanship, and fun. Work to establish participant unity and spirit. Ensure fair and equal participation. Create new/improved curriculum. Adhere to all McFarland Recreation, Aquatics, & Play (MRAP) and McFarland School District (MSD) policies, rules, and objectives. Responsible for maintaining the care of all MRAP and MSD equipment. Responsible for maintaining care of the courts after inclement weather (during session times/dates only). Expected to arrive 15 min. prior to the start time of the class to set up. Reports to the Community Recreation Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
• Desire to work with youth and adults
• Possesses organizational skills, patience, maturity, and a strong safety sense
• At least two years of playing tennis experience (playing at the high school, collegiate, or professional level)
• At least one year of coaching/assistant coaching experience desired but not required
• 18 years or older
• High school graduate
• CPR/First Aid Certification (will train upon hiring if employee doesn’t already possess)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach for an extended period of time
• Ability to bend at the waist and perform repetitive foot and hand actions
• Good hand/eye/foot coordination required
• Must be able to demonstrate Tennis ability
• Ability to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
ENVIRONMENT/NOISE:
• Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is moderate
EMPLOYMENT DATES/SCHEDULE:
• 4 Sundays in the fall season (mid-September through early October) – typically 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
• 4 Sundays in the spring season (end of April and early May) – typically 9:00 AM—2:00 PM.
• Recreation Coordinator will work with Lead Instructor to set dates that work with the program and the instructor’s schedules.
