Department Overview:

The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as the "heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907.

Anticipated Schedule

Hours worked to take place during normal daytime business hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This individual will work closely with the Membership Program Assistant to provide support in processing membership applications and other tasks related to membership.

Duties include:

  • Data entry of membership applications; handle phone and walk-in purchases.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in phone, electronic, and face-to-face settings.
  • Assist in accounting and daily deposit including cash handling.
  • Assist in office responsibilities such as answering telephones, postage metering, copy room duties and filing.
  • Maintain sales and campaign tracking spreadsheets and project calendars.
  • Generate monthly sales reports.
  • Prepare and package renewal mailing materials for membership campaigns.
  • Update and maintain membership database.
  • Conduct research on various systems, products, or programs as needed. Make recommendations for program or campaign enhancement.
  • Coordinate and staff member relations events as needed.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Regular interaction with customers (face-to-face, by phone, and electronically) is required.

We are looking for a friendly person who will be cooperative and responsible while working to build awareness of the Wisconsin Union and its membership program.

Ideal candidate will:

  • be detail oriented
  • comfortable with data entry
  • have strong organizational skills
  • be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • provide friendly and respectful customer service
  • demonstrate the ability to think and work independently
  • seek assistance when appropriate
  • be able to lift 20 pounds
  • previous office experience helpful but not essential.

This position is in person, year-round.

Summer hours are required.
