Department Overview:

Help an anthropologist and UW-Madison emerita professor polish a nearly completed bi-lingual (English-Nuer) dictionary that will help preserve an endangered African language as well as support South Sudanese refugees worldwide. A solid knowledge of English grammatical principles and WORD is essential. Ten-finger typing skills are preferred. This is a short-term project, estimated at 20-25 hours for EACH of three prospective personal assistants. Remote work will be combined with periodic  face-to-face collaborations with the professor at her home, located a few blocks from Union South on Bus Line O.  Daily and weekly work schedules are highly flexible. Early evenings and weekend meetings with the professor are possible.

Qualifications:

Seeking UW Undergraduates or Graduate Students with deep knowledge of English grammar to help complete a bi-lingual English-Nuer dictionary. Nuer is a South Sudanese African language. No knowledge of Nuer is needed. Assistants will help refine and expand English word entries. 10-finger typing preferred. Knowledge of basic WORD processing is needed.
