Department Overview:
The Stoughton Aqua Racers (STAR) is a USA Swimming Certified swim team serving Stoughton, WI and the surrounding areas. STAR is a community-based swim team committed to providing physical, mental, and emotional skills, which will develop character, integrity, and pride for all our swimmers. We aim to build champions in the pool and in life.

Schedule:
Practice times: Monday-Thursday 5:00-8:00, Friday 5:30-7:30, pending pool availability. Prefer a candidate willing to work at least two practice days per week regularly, if not more. Will need coaching coverage for some weekend meets, some of which may require in state travel (at longest, 2 hour max drive, mileage compensated). Head coach and assistant coaches will meet to discuss meet coverage on an ongoing basis throughout the season.
Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $20.00 to $27.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Assistant Coach is a leader within the swim club, liaison to parents, and supporter of the team’s development and growth.
Compensation: This position is hourly, requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week, on average. Compensation will be based on coaching and competitive swimming experience. The position will require evening and occasional weekend hours. STAR takes seasonal breaks in March and August. This is a non-benefit position.
Experience and Qualifications:
USA Swimming Coach Certification required
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred
Swim coaching experience, USA Swimming Coaching experience preferred
Experience working with kids and their families
Knowledge in USA swimming rules and regulations
General communication, organizational, and computer skills
Responsibilities:
Create, support, and nurture an energetic and connected team environment for swimmers and families; supporting a dynamic spectrum of swimmer ages, abilities, and goals
Support stroke development and swimmer improvement
Develop and support positive relationships between swimmers and coaches
Recruit, retain and grow STAR
All other duties as discussed and assigned.
The STAR Assistant Coach reports directly to the STAR Head Coach.
Qualifications:
USA Swimming Coach Certification required
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred
Swim coaching experience, USA Swimming Coaching experience preferred
Experience working with kids and their families
Knowledge in USA swimming rules and regulations
General communication, organizational, and computer skills
Physical Demands
Need to be able to move safely back and forth on the perimeter of the pool multiple times during practice and during busy meets. Prefer to also be able to occasionally enter the water to demonstrate and teach technique to swimmers.
