Department Overview:

Helping Hands at Home is a Middeton-based, woman-led business that provides care coordination and social work support services to families who are caring for a loved-one with dementia and wish to age in place. We assist families in building and coordinating teams of in-home care providers.

Schedule:

Flexible hours available: 3-6 hour shifts, weekdays or weekends, possible overnights (asleep.) $30/hr starting.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Seeking caring and attentive individuals to provide non-medical in-home support to people with dementia. West side/Middleton locations, flexible hours.

  • Caregivers are tasked with ensuring the safety of clients in their care and reporting any health or safety concerns immediately
  • Caregivers will assist clients in engaging with their daily routine, including dressing, prompts to complete personal care tasks, and assistance preparing snacks, meals
  • Caregivers will support clients to remain engaged in their physical and mental health through conversation, puzzles, going on walks and similarly enriching activities
  • Caregivers are expected to provide full supervision to clients at all times and complete detailed documentation of daily activities
  • Collaboration with the larger care team through good communication and attendance at caregiver meetings is expected
  • Additional duties may include medication reminders, pet care, light housekeeping and similar  tasks.

Qualifications:

Requirements

All caregivers must complete a state of Wisconsin background check, have access to an ensured vehicle and a valid drivers license.

Experience providing hands on care to people with dementia, older adults, or those with cognitive disabilities preferred but willing to train those who are open to learning.

Caregivers should be comfortable navigating unpredictable situations and managing challenging behaviors.

Physical Demands

must be comfortable going on long walks and standing for long periods
