Schedule: | Academic Year:
- Flexible scheduling based on your academic availability and operational need
- 16 hours a month required; 28 hours per month preferred
- Various and flexible weekend and weekday shifts. Weekend shifts are required for some units.
- Residence Halls - Most shifts are available on the weekends between the hours of 7am – 5pm; some weekday shifts 7:30am-4:00 pm may be available depending on the unit’s operational need.
- Apartments - most shifts are available M-F between the hours of 7:00am-3:30pm Evenings and Gordon Dining and Event Center (GDEC) - shifts available 7 days a week between 3:00pm and 1:30am. Lakeshore staff report to Jones Hall, Southeast staff report to GDEC.
Summer:
- 25-40 hours per week, positions based on availability and operational need. Flexible scheduling options may be available, schedule will be set upon hire.
- Daytime Residence Halls and Apartments - M-F 7:00am-4:30pm, some overtime expected outside of normal hours, including some weekends.
- Evenings and GDEC Evenings - 3:00pm-1:30am Bi-weekly rotation: Monday-Thursday and Tuesday- Friday, some overtime expected outside of normal hours including some weekends.
Seasonal: This position is considered seasonal during the summer months and is exempt from the 89-day rule in regard to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Hours worked may exceed 30 hours/week during the summer months.

Position Summary/Job Duties: | Student Custodian Supervisors supervise a team to provide a safe and clean environment for residents and guests to live, study, and play while providing excellent customer service.
- Promote a positive work environment, where students feel welcomed at work, by role modeling appropriate work behavior, strong work ethic, good decision making, critical thinking and a customer service attitude.
- Supervise a team of student custodians, including WiGrow conversations, proficiency reviews, providing feedback, training, leading meetings, inspect work areas, reporting work rule violations, and giving direction to staff. Schedule student staff for their work shifts.
- Assist the Building Services Supervisor with payroll-related tasks, including collection exception reports, approving timecards, and attendance tracking.
- Serve as a point of contact and provide leadership for work unit on weekends and when full time supervisors are absent from unit.
- Personally perform as well as lead and assist other student and career staff in completing:
- Major cleaning facilities including resident rooms, apartments, dining areas, and/or common areas; deep scrubbing, extracting carpets scrubbing walls, shelves, furniture, extracting furniture, cleaning/sanitizing refrigerators.
- Preparing rooms for residents and guest
- Empty trash and recycling; vacuum; clean toilets; clean and wash sinks, windows, mirrors, showers, and stairwells, remove litter from grounds, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and extracting floors; moving furniture Snow removal for you unit
- Parking responsibilities for academic year breaks and transitions.
- Plan, lead and execute assigned projects independently or with others e.g.: turnovers, parking staffing, supply/linen organization, carpet and hard-surface floor maintenance/care, delivering and moving supplies and items, and other projects as assigned.
- Be professional and helpful at all times, communicate clearly and accurately, report building maintenance issues, follow-up with customers as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Summer Specific Duties:
- Supervise servicing of hotel style guest rooms, of adult conference groups when occupied Preparing rooms for residents and guests, including making beds; dust, sweep, and mop rooms, restock closets, towels, and linen.
- Parking responsibilities for the arrival and departure of Summer Conference guests
- Supervise the cleaning of vacated apartments before the new contract year starting in July Participate in staffing schedule planning for work between group occupancy, including coverage on weekends as operationally needed
