WORK HOURS:  10-20 hours per week during the school year during regular business hours of 7:00am to 5:00pm.  Opportunity to work additional hours during the summer.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

LOCATION: The Office of Risk Management is located at 780 Regent Street, Madison, WI.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COULD INCLUDE:

  • Access to worker’s compensation database, review new claims
  • Prepare business letters, request medical notes
  • Processing, deny bills
  • Special projects
  • Filing
  • Maintain confidentiality of claimants Other:
  • Lifting and carrying file boxes
  • Other business office duties as needed.

EXPECTATIONS: Student will report for work as scheduled, be accurate in their work assignments and be a proactive member of the team.

PAY RATE: $15.00


The UW System Office of Risk Management is dedicated to providing the UW System with a worker’s compensation benefit program that pays for medical treatment and wages lost due to injuries or illnesses that happen at work. This includes establishing policies to ensure the preservation of System assets by the minimization of loss at all institutions. More specifically, the university employee worker’s compensation disability claims as part of the claims management operations of the State’s Self-funded Worker’s Compensation program.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word
  • Customer Service background
  • Skilled in typing, data entry

SKILLS: Attention to detail, planning and organizing, analysis and judgement, dependability, work standards, stress tolerance, communication, teamwork, respects confidentiality.
