Department Overview: | Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Program Description:
Girls, Inc. empowers girls to succeed by providing trusting, mentoring relationships, a girls-only environment and research based, hands-on programming. Girls, Inc inspires girls to be strong, smart and bold.
Job Description & Duties:
• Work with a team to develop weekly Girls Inc. curriculum plans
• Act as a lead teacher for Girls Inc. programming for MSCR elementary and/or middle school afterschool programs (depending on placement, there will be times when you are paired with another facilitator and times when you are the only facilitator.
• Record and track participant data and attendance
• Participate in Girls Inc. training and professional development and attend Facilitator meetings
• Attend Friday meetings at MSCR Central from 1:30-3:00pm (unless school is on holiday recess)

Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications:
• High school graduate, dependable, interest in working with youth and positive attitude.
• Ability to attend mandatory training, meetings and scheduled work shifts.
• Must be able to travel to multiple locations easily within the same day
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two or more years working in an after-school youth setting or with program planning and environment design
• Working knowledge of positive youth development.
• Experience working with adolescents in group settings.
• Experience working with economically and ethnically diverse populations.
• Educational background in or experience in working with teachers and staff in an academic setting.
• Experience in facilitating groups.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as a team, take on a leadership role, and maintain a positive work environment, while supporting staff and enforcing program rules consistently
