Schedule:
Academic Hours:
Average 5-15 hours per week
Shifts may start as early as 6:00 AM and end as late as 12:00 AM
Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need
Summer Hours:
Minimum 25 hours per week required with a potential to work up to 40 hours
Most hours will be scheduled during business hours (8am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday) while some hours will be scheduled for nights and weekends, in addition to on-call support
On-call support:
Employees should expect to be on call 1-3 days/nights per week
While serving as on-call support, employees must be residing on campus in the room provided
Hours for on-call support will be 8pm - 8am
Hours for on-call support will be scheduled based on needed coverage when the Conference Services Office is closed, and when residence halls are occupied.
During the summer months and conference season, overtime hours may occasionally be available and must be approved in advance by the Conference & Event Services professional staff.
Prior approval is required for staff to hold other employment while employed in this position
Seasonal:
This position is considered seasonal during the summer months in regards to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Hours worked may exceed 30 hours/week during the summer months

Position Summary/Job Duties:
This position focuses on the coordination and logistics for conferences, residential and non-residential events and summer programs. Event Services staff members provide on-site support for all University Housing events year-round. This support includes, but is not limited to, room setups, technology and troubleshooting for conference guests when issues arise.
They report to the Event Services Professional Staff and are supervised by the Event Services Student Supervisor. They may also take directions from other Housing professional staff members.
Provide support for all University events including but not limited to; open, set-up, tear-down and secure rooms as scheduled and diagramed
Assist clients throughout event and handling other event details as necessary
Set-up and operate audio/visual (A/V) systems and other equipment including:
Portable and stationary sound and lighting systems; TV, LCD projectors, microphones and speakers
Work closely with the staff in the Event Services Office.
Monitor compliance with the facility use and reservation policy and correct or report as necessary
Be mindful of safety, equipment, personnel, or client issues and correct or report as necessary.
Ensure proper communication with the Event Services Professional Staff, Student Supervisor and colleagues at the beginning and end of each shift. This includes submitting shift reports when needed.
Maintain storage areas to properly secure equipment.
Understand emergency procedures and assist UWPD and other departments in the proper implementation of such in the event of an emergency.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Summer Specific Responsibilities
Attend and actively participate in staff meetings
May assist with desk coverage and support.
May assist with desk, event and conference services coverage and support.
Assist with Desk Services Check-in and check-outs throughout the summer
Qualifications:
Satisfactory results of a confidential criminal background check are required.
A valid driver's license which meets UW Risk Management standards is preferred but not required.
Preference will be given to students with a good understanding of University Housing and Conference Services operations and mission.
Preference will be given to students with previous work experience managing multiple responsibilities.
Able to lift to 50 pounds and move equipment and supplies.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
