Program Description:

During the summer, MSCR offers the Camp Compass childcare program across five locations. This camp offers 8 weeks of a fun, enriching and inclusive experience to participants in grades K-5. Each day will include free play, staff-led activities, outdoor recess and meals. Field trips and special events will be included weekly, when possible. Camp Compass is open to the public for registration. The CC programs run from 7:45-5:30pm. and include breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.

Camp Compass Snapshot:
Each CC site provides programming for approximately 70 students in grades K-5. Classrooms typically have 15-18 students, supervised by two or more Program Leaders. Each site has a leadership team that consists of one Director and 2 Assistant Directors. Program Leaders begin their shift by checking in with their supervisor and preparing for the day. The majority of the time is spent supervising a group of participants. Once students leave for the day, Program Leaders clean up and check in with their supervisor as needed. There is typically one staff meeting per week. Sites swim 1-2 times a week. Staff are required to swim with participants.

Job Description & Duties:

Subs will fill in for absent Program Leaders. Subs are responsible for resuming the job duties of the person they are covering a shift for and facilitating their daily schedule and plans. Program leaders at site are responsible for the following duties:
• Plan, prepare for and lead recreation and enrichment activities for elementary-age children at school sites.
• Supervise daily indoor and outdoor activities.
• Participate and get in the pool during swimming activities, field trips and swim lessons
• Keep students safe by creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.
• Work as a team with other program staff to carry out responsibilities.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom and site.
• Interact with parents as needed.
• Supervise group during off-site field trips, including swim lessons.
• End of day cleanup.

Sub Process:                                                                                                                                                                                          MSCR will schedule and communicate sub shifts via the SubitUp app. There are three types of sub shifts:
• Scheduled shifts - scheduled with advanced notice/pre-planned absence, more than 24 hours notice
• On-Call shifts are offered very last minute or day-of, notice within 24 hours of the shift start-time
• Transfer shifts are shifts where the sub is actually transferred to a permanent / semi-permanent placement at a location.
• Once a scheduled shift is accepted, subs are held to the same standards with regard to attendance and expectations of staff.
• Subs are likely to be offered repeat shifts at the same site. This is to offer you and the sites as much consistency with staff as possible.
• Subs who have more availability may be transferred to a permanent placement at a camp for a week or longer.
MSCR will use an app called SubitUp for scheduling staff. Opportunities to sub will be listed in the SubitUp app and you will be able to sign up for shifts using the app. You will receive additional information about how to get set up and navigate the app as we get closer to summer. Sub hours cannot be guaranteed, but it is possible to work close to full-time, especially if you are willing/able to travel to multiple locations, which you will be able to indicate in the acceptance form.
