Department Overview:
A program of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters , the James Watrous Gallery is dedicated to celebrating Wisconsin artists. Located on the third floor of Overture Center for the Arts in downtown Madison, the Watrous focuses on solo exhibits by contemporary Wisconsin artists.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Visitor Services: Summer Gallery Attendant
James Watrous Gallery
This is a summer position for May 16 - August 16 . James Watrous Gallery’s visitor services staff are responsible for opening and closing the gallery space, welcoming visitors, providing security for the artwork, and light clerical work. Must be reliable, punctual, and personable, have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working alone. Knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art is a plus.
Applicants must be available from May 16 - August 16 during the gallery’s weekend hours: Saturday and Sunday, 12-5pm. They will be expected to assist with exhibit installation between July 13 and 30; shift times may vary during exhibit installation. Occasional Thursday and Friday shifts from 12-5pm may also be available.
Pay rate: $15. hour.
Qualifications:
Must be reliable, punctual, and personable, have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working alone. Knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art is a plus.
Physical Demands
Minimal. Ability to lift 30 pounds is a plus.
