Position Summary/Job Duties:

City bar is looking for a new general manager to join our team in early/mid June! Our ideal candidate is someone who has been involved in the bar industry and understands operational features of a bar. We are looking for an individual with strong delegation skills, ability to run and operate the bar, and work with college-aged students. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Prior service industry experience
  • Must be open to work Tuesday-Saturday 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs 
  • Excellent leadership skills with prior management experience preferred

Qualifications:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee the entire bar
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and managing employees
  • Making weekly schedules to ensure adequate coverage and staffing depending on game days, bar events, and school events. 
  • Resolving conflicts and supporting a positive customer experience
  • Ensuring employees adhere to local, state and federal regulations for alcohol service and safety
  • Monitoring daily operations, including cash handling, restocking, and inventory 
  • Ordering alcohol, food and supplies and building vendor relationships
  • Creating and maintaining an inventory management system
  • Overseeing marketing and promotional activities
  • Ensure proper security procedures are in place to protect employees and guests 
  • Provide direction to employees 
  • Engage directly with customers, building relationships within the community
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the bar and presentation of the space  
  • Keeping the culture that City Bar has created in Madison and with current employees!

Physical Demands

WORKING CONDITIONS Tuesday-Saturday shifts Must be able to fill in or find coverage for employees if emergencies may arise Position requires standing, bending, and lifting heavier objects. Ability to endure late nights/early mornings
