Position Summary/Job Duties:

About this position

Goldenrod Montessori School is seeking a positive, passionate, and reliable early childhood educator to assist the Lead Teacher in our Children’s House community serving up to 16 children in a mixed-age environment for children ages 3-6 years. The role involves guiding young children with warmth, respect, and consistency.  The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young children, honors the individuality of each child, and is eager to learn and grow within a Montessori setting. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children in an outdoor environment in all types of weather.  While this role will primarily be working with students in the 3-6 age range, comfort working with children of all ages from 12 weeks-12 years is a plus. Montessori experience is preferred but not required as we are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

1. Classroom Assistance: - Support the Lead Montessori Teacher in preparing and maintaining an organized, clean, and appealing learning environment. - Assist in setting up and maintaining classroom materials and educational activities in line with Montessori principles.

2. Supportive Interaction with Children: - Provide attentive, respectful, and nurturing care to children, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. - Assist children in their daily routines, guide their educational activities, and support their individual learning paths.

3. Curriculum Implementation: - Help implement the Montessori curriculum under the guidance of the Lead Teacher, ensuring alignment with the school's educational standards. - Observe and document children’s progress and participate in assessment discussions.

4. Collaboration and Communication: - Maintain open communication with the Lead Teacher, sharing observations and insights about the children’s needs and progress. - Engage with parents and guardians in a friendly and professional manner, providing updates on their child’s experiences and development.

5. Professional Growth: - Engage in ongoing professional development and training in Montessori education and early childhood practices. - Stay informed about current research and trends in Montessori education.

6. Health and Safety: - Adhere to the school’s health and safety policies and protocols. - Assist in maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Must meet all state Department of Children and Families (DCF) licensing standards and requirements.
  • Safety Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid (AED) certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Background Screening: Must successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check and fingerprinting.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including the ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30-50 lbs regularly.
