POSITION SUMMARY

We are a busy dual-professional household in Madison (Village of Shorewood Hills, near UW Hospital/campus) looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Family Assistant/House Manager. We have two children (ages 8 and 5), a grandmother who lives in the home and provides primary childcare during the day, and a low-shedding standard poodle. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys creating order in a home and can help our household run smoothly through daily upkeep, organization, meal prep, and driving the children to and from activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Household Organization & Cleaning: This is the heart of the role. Keeping common areas tidy and organized (kitchen, living room, den, playroom), putting things back where they belong, loading/unloading the dishwasher, wiping down counters and surfaces, light cleaning, and folding and putting away kids' clothing. We are looking for someone who notices what needs doing and takes pride in a clean, well-ordered home.
  • Meal Prep & Snacks: Packing lunches for the children and for one parent, and preparing healthy snacks (cut fruit, veggies, and similar). Potentially light meal prep or simple cooking may come up, but likely either meal kits or simple recipes.
  • Children's Transportation & Routines: Driving the children to and from school and activities in our family vehicle (we keep car seats installed). Helping the kids stay on track with their daily routines, and some supervision between activities or during gaps in the grandmother's availability.
  • Errands: occasional general errands as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Detail-Oriented & Self-Directed: The ideal candidate enjoys household organization, notices what needs doing without being told, and can manage tasks independently.
  • Good with Kids: Comfortable supervising and helping two children (ages 9 and 5) and supporting their routines.
  • Driving: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. This role involves driving our children in our family vehicle, so reliable transportation to our home is needed, but the job itself uses our car.
  • Reliability: Punctual, trustworthy, and able to self-manage.
  • Communication: Able to communicate clearly with parents and collaborate comfortably with other household members.

HOURS & COMPENSATION

Approximately 10-15 hours per week, primarily weekday afternoons around the children's school and activity schedule. Starting at $20/hour with room to grow. This is a W-2 position (we use a payroll service).
