Position Summary/Job Duties:

We are a 4 person family on the west side of Madison looking for a caregiver to work for a few hours Wednesday & Thursday afternoons after our kids are released from school but before we get home from work.  Job would be starting September-October 2026, start date somewhat negotiable as our current sitter has some flexibility with her end date.

About us: Our younger son, age 7 1/2, will be starting 2nd grade at Crestwood Elementary School, which is within walking distance of our house.  Our older son, age 11, will be starting 6th grade at Gillespie Middle.  Both boys love reading, sports, facts, and just goofing around.  Parents Carey & Lindsay work in the medical field and have 10-12 hour work days.  We also have a large, friendly greyhound named BamBam.

The position: We are looking for someone to pick up our younger son at school at 3:15 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and take him home, where you would meet our older son, who will return home from school on his own via bus or bike (school dismissal 4PM).  Likely tasks would include taking the dog out, preparing a simple dinner for the boys, and possibly some driving to events/activities depending on what needs arise.

Qualifications:

  • Experience caring for young children, with references.
  • Valid driver's license & clean driving record.
  • Seeking someone kind, patient, and energetic to become a caring, consistent presence in our sons' lives.  Ideally, you would be willing and able to transport the boys in your vehicle, but this is not required.
