Department Overview: | SwimAmerica Madison is a nationally recognized swim lesson program committed to providing high-quality, progressive swim instruction for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Instructors receive comprehensive online training through SwimAmerica, along with hands-on, in-water shadowing and mentoring at the Madison Aquatic Center (MAC) to ensure they are confident and prepared to teach effectively.
Our mission is to provide a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment where swimmers develop essential water safety skills, proper swimming technique, and confidence in the water. Through a structured, skill-based progression, we help each swimmer build a strong foundation and develop swimming as a lifelong skill.

Position Summary/Job Duties: | Swim Instructor
We are looking for enthusiastic and dependable Swim Instructors to help children and adults of all ages develop strong swimming skills, proper technique, confidence, and water safety awareness.
Swim Instructors are responsible for providing a positive, safe, and encouraging learning environment while helping each swimmer progress at their own pace. Instructors evaluate swimmer performance, provide constructive feedback, track attendance and progress, complete incident or accident reports when necessary, and ensure all teaching equipment is safe and in good working condition.
Learning to swim is an important life skill. Our goal is to make that experience both effective and enjoyable while teaching swimmers the skills they need to become confident, efficient, and safe in the water.
Our program emphasizes teaching proper technique from the very beginning. Swimmers develop essential skills including breathing, kicking, body position, stroking, and streamlining through a progressive station-based curriculum. Each skill builds upon the one before it, allowing swimmers to learn, practice, and demonstrate mastery at their own pace.

Ideal Candidates
We are looking for individuals who are energetic, patient, dependable, and enjoy working with people. Previous swim instruction or competitive swimming experience is helpful, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
