8-12 hours per week, primarily weekday afternoons. We're especially interested in Tuesday and Thursday, plus a possible Sunday late-morning block, and we can be somewhat flexible on the exact schedule. Starting at $20/hour with room to grow. This is a W-2 position (we use a payroll service)

We are a busy dual-professional household in Madison (Village of Shorewood Hills, near UW Hospital/campus) looking for a reliable, organized After-School Family Assistant to help our two children (ages 9 and 5) through their weekday routines and activities. A grandmother who lives with us provides primary daytime childcare, so this role is focused on the after-school stretch: helping the kids get where they need to go, keeping their routines on track, and keeping our home running smoothly. We also have a low-shedding standard poodle.

WHAT YOU'D DO

• Kids' Routines & Activities: Help our children transition from school into their afternoon, stay on track with their routines, get ready for activities, and get to and from those activities on time. Some supervision and hanging out with the kids during gaps in the day.
• Driving: Drive the children to and from school and activities in our family vehicle (we keep car seats installed). You'll use our car for the kids, so you just need a reliable way to get to us.
• Meals & Snacks: Pack lunches for the children (and occasionally for one parent), and put together healthy snacks like cut fruit and veggies. Some light cooking may come up, mostly built around the kids, though polished cooking skills are a nice-to-have rather than a requirement.  
• Household Help: When the kids are settled or at an activity, help keep kids areas and common areas organized and tidy, put things back where they belong (with help from kids!), keep the kitchen in order, and fold and put away kids' laundry. No deep cleaning of bathrooms or toilets.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Someone who genuinely enjoys kids and is comfortable supervising and helping two children (ages 9 and 5).
• Organized and self-directed, notices what needs doing and takes initiative without needing a detailed list.
• A valid driver's license and a clean, comfortable driving record.
• Punctual, trustworthy, and able to communicate clearly and work well with other members of the household.
• Previous experience with kids (babysitting, nannying, camp, tutoring, teaching) is a plus.

For the right/interested candidate might be interested in additional hours sunday morning ~10-1 for help with meal prep/home setup for the week.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Organized and self-directed, notices what needs doing and takes initiative without needing a detailed list.  Preference for/skills in organization and tidying are welcome (not our strength!) 
• A valid driver's license and a clean, comfortable driving record.
• Punctual, trustworthy, and able to communicate clearly and work well with other members of the household.
• Previous experience with kids (babysitting, nannying, camp, tutoring, teaching) is a plus.
