We are looking for a reliable, kind, and engaging babysitter for our two children, ages 4 and 8. We are primarily looking for help during evenings and weekends, with up to approximately 10 hours per week. Scheduling can be flexible and may be a good fit for a UW student looking for consistent part-time work.

We are looking for someone who enjoys spending time with children and will actively engage with them. Our ideal caregiver will play games, do crafts, read, build with toys, play outside, follow the children's interests, and help them participate in activities.

Our children are neurodivergent (autism with low support needs), so patience, flexibility, and an ability to meet children where they are are important. Previous experience with autistic or neurodivergent children is welcome, but not required.

Responsibilities may include:

• Playing and actively engaging with our 4- and 8-year-old children

• Following the children's interests through play, crafts, games, pretend play, reading, building activities, and outdoor play

• Supervising play at home and outdoors

• Preparing simple snacks or meals as needed

• Helping with basic routines during evening care

• Occasionally taking the children to parks, museums, activities, classes, or other outings

• Keeping children's play areas reasonably tidy after activities

Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Current student or graduate in child development, education, psychology, special education, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, nursing, recreation, or a related child-focused field preferred

• Previous experience caring for or working with children ages approximately 4–10

• Experience with autistic or neurodivergent children is a plus, but not required

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred

• Non-smoker

• Valid driver's license, safe driving record, and reliable transportation

• Comfortable driving children to activities or outings when needed

• References preferred

Schedule:
Primarily evenings and weekends, up to approximately 10 hours per week. Hours may vary from week to week, and we can work around the right person's class or work schedule. We would ideally like to find someone interested in an ongoing position.

Pay:
$18–$22/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

We are hoping to find someone who can become a familiar, trusted person for our children.
